Lot of things happened on the way to the German Championships

Let’s start at the beginning. My last two regattas were the Eastgerman Championships and the Kanalsprint Potsdam. At wonderful wheather I became three times Eastgerman Champion in Brandenburg. Next to my two titles in the K1 200m and 1000m I also won the K2 200m with Kostja Stroinski, although he was in a hard preparation phase for the U23-European Championships. Moreover, we also won the silver medail on the 1000m behind Marc Rößler and Uwe Heidler. Marc and Uwe won silver on the 200m, so it was a good change for all of us Berlin guys

The Kanalsprint… well, next to Ronald Rauhe, Sören Schust and me (three of the four fastest sprint kayaker of Germany) were also the Swedish Petter Öström, EC and WorldCup finalist, and two Australian guys at the start. I have trained well and had a very good feeling one week after the Eastgerman Championships, so I had huge expectations to reach the finale in this Knock-Out races. In one preliminary were my competitor Sören Schust. In all races this season before we ha always a hard battle. Being in front after the start Sören had a little advantage on the course. In hard fight closed the hole and overtook him … at least, this was the sensation of us two and all the spectators, watching the slow-motion at the tv screen. But the jury judged in another way. In their eyes Sören was 0.05 second in front of me.
At the end of the day Sören was in the final, lost against the World Champion Ronald Rauhe and became 2nd.
Of course, I wanted to see the finish photo immediately. But they didn’t show it me, they didn’t want to touch the computers because of the hotness at this day… They have promised me they will send me the photo by mail. Until today I didn’t get any mail of them.

Now something more enjoyable. My fionce did get a job. So I am allowed to take our daughter next week to the start in the kindergarden. That’s why I must cancel the German Championships next week in Cologne. I will only start at sunday on the 5000m with Kostja. I wish to paddle also the shorter distances 200m and 500m. But Emma is first.

Canoe face to face: Channel-sprintup in Potsdam and East-German Championships in Brandenburg

Big sports in canoe/kayak is coming to entertain everyone.

This weekend from 2nd till 4th July will be hold the East-German Championships in Brandenburg. I will start in K1 200m and 1000m nd in addition with my clube mate Kostja Stroinski both distances in the K2. All finals will be on Saturday: over 200m at 11.36 and 12.27 and over 1000m at 16.15 and 17.25. Information under www.brandenburger-regatten.de.

A big highlight will be the Channelsprint in Potsdam at 10th July. Next to the whole German elite will take part to Australian kayakers, too. Start is at 2 p.m. Further information under www.Kanalsprint.de.

Victim in relay at the Worldcup and Bronce in Magdeburg’s sprintcup

Worldcup. I raced together with Sören Schust the K2 200m and with him, Ronald Rauhe and Jonas Ems the relay.

After finishing first in the heat and semifinal we had good expections for the final. Nevertheless, the other semifinal was faster than our, so we couldn’t be sure. Again the British guys had a very good start…
